Tour Description
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Samarkand and take you to the border. After a short walk across the border and completing formalities, you’ll meet your local guide. On the way to the lakes, you’ll stop at the ancient ruins of Sarazm – a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back over 5,500 years.
From there, enjoy a scenic drive into the mountains to visit the enchanting chain of Seven Lakes (Haft Kul), each with its own color and character. You’ll have time to take photos, enjoy the landscape, and experience Tajik hospitality.
Return to Samarkand in the evening.

Day 1: Samarkand → Seven Lakes → Panjakent
Morning: Pick up from your hotel in Samarkand and transfer to the Jartepa border crossing.
Border crossing: Cross the border on foot (approx. 600 m). Your local guide will meet you in Tajikistan.
Excursion to Seven Lakes (Haft Kul): Drive through the Shing Valley to explore the chain of seven stunning mountain lakes. Each lake has a unique shade of blue and green. Enjoy photo stops and short walks in nature.
Evening: Return to Panjakent, check into your hotel, and enjoy dinner or free time.
Overnight: Hotel in Panjakent.
Day 2: Panjakent & Sarazm → Samarkand
Morning Panjakent Tour:
Explore the ancient ruins of Old Panjakent, once a flourishing Sogdian Silk Road city.
Visit the Rudaki Museum, dedicated to the great Persian poet born nearby.
Experience the Panjakent Bazaar with its colorful local life.
Midday: Continue to the Sarazm UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of Central Asia’s oldest known proto-urban settlements (over 5,500 years old). Learn about its unique archaeological importance.
15:00: Drive back to the border crossing. After crossing, your driver will meet you in Uzbekistan and transfer you to Samarkand.
